‘UP Scholarship’ is a broad term that comprises all the scholarships that are being offered by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The key objective of these scholarships is to cater to the needs of lakhs of students who are part of the humongous education system of this northern state. These scholarships can be broadly categorised into Pre-Matric Scholarships and Post-Matric Scholarships. The students belonging to General, SC, ST, OBC and Minority communities can avail benefits under these scholarships.

UP Scholarship – Complete List 

The Government of Uttar Pradesh, through its different departments, offers a number of scholarships for students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), General, Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Minority communities. UP Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

The students who are permanent residents or domiciles of Uttar Pradesh state can avail benefits under the UP scholarship schemes. Besides this being the common eligibility criteria for all the scholarships, there are other conditions too, that a student must fulfil to avail benefits under these scholarships. The criteria may vary based on the student’s academic qualification and family income. The table given below highlights the detailed eligibility criteria for each scholarship.

UP Scholarship – Application Process

Any student of Uttar Pradesh who fulfils the eligibility criteria of the scholarships mentioned above can apply for them online through the official government portal. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has launched its separate scholarship and fee reimbursement online system with the name of ‘SAKSHAM’. All the applications for both pre-matric and post-matric scholarships are invited through this portal only. Follow the steps given below to make an application –

Step 1: Visit the official portal of the UP government. 

Step 2: Click on the ‘New Registration’ button under the ‘Student’ section.

Step 3: Select the scholarship you want to apply for. 

Step 4: A registration form will open. Fill in all required details and click on ‘Submit’ to complete the registration.

Step 5: Log in using registration number, password and date of birth. 

Step 6: A page of important instructions will open. Read all the instructions carefully and click on ‘Proceed’. 

Step 7: The user dashboard will open. Click on the ‘Fill in application form’ section and fill in all required details. 

Step 8: Upload all supporting documents and finally submit the application.   

Step 9: Once the online form has been submitted, the students are required to submit a print out of the form along with other supporting documents to their respective educational institutions. 

UP Scholarship – Application Documents

The students applying for UP scholarship (either pre-matric or post-matric) need to upload the following documents at the time of application –

  • Passport size photograph of the applicant
  • Domicile certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Residential proof like Aadhaar card, ration card, voter ID, PAN card, or driving license 
  • Income certificate
  • ID proof of the student
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examination
  • Current year fee receipt/admission letter
  • Bank passbook of the student

If any application is found with no supporting documents, it will be considered invalid. Thus, it is advisable to students to make sure that they upload all the required documents in the specified format and size.

UP Scholarship – Check Application Status

The students who have applied for any of the UP scholarships are provided with the provision of checking their application status on the portal itself. Both fresh and renewal applicants can track their application status. While the fresh applicants need to simply login to the user dashboard, the existing users who want to track the status of their previous year’s application need to check it through the ‘Status’ section on the home page.

The students who meet all the eligibility criteria will be provided with variable financial assistance depending on the academic qualification and financial need. The students can use the financial aid to pay for their academic expenses.

Q. When is the UP scholarship announced? 

The UP scholarships are generally announced in the month of July/August and their application continues till the month of October/November. The students fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for these scholarships within the stipulated timeline. Furthermore, refer to the important dates section to know about the application timeline for the academic year 2020-21. 

Q. How can students renew their scholarship application? 

The applications for both fresh and renewal cases can be made online through the Saksham portal. The process for renewal is similar to that of the fresh application. The candidates are just required to click on ‘Renewal’ application while selecting the scholarship. 

Q. When is the last date to apply for UP scholarship 2020? 

The last date to apply for UP Pre-Matric Scholarship for the academic year 2020-21 is 12th October 2020. However, the last date to apply for the UP Post-Matric Scholarship is 5th November 2020.
